The United Nations’ Human Rights Day is observed on 10 December every year; a day to honour the UN’s adoption and proclamation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The Multicultural Association hosts an annual conference to educate members of the public on Human Rights in the context of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo.
Human Rights Day acknowledges the entitled rights to everyone as a human being – regardless of race, colour, religion, sex, language, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth, or status. In 2022, the UN will be launching a year long campaign to promote and recognize the 75th anniversary of the UDHR, which falls on December 10, 2023.
Each year in acknowledgement of this day, the Multicultural Association of Wood Buffalo hosts a Human Rights Day Conversation Café to generate discussion on Human Rights issues, surrounding each year’s UN Human Rights Day theme.
