Meet the 2023 recipient of the Sana Elache Student Empowerment Award!

Sarah is a 12th grader at Westwood Community High School who has lived in Fort McMurray since she was 2 years old. She is always excited to take on challenges and projects by being heavily involved in not just her school community, but the greater RMWB.

She’s president of Student Council, served on MACOY, Superintendent’s Advisory Council, STEM-Initiatives, and volunteers regularly with the MCAWB, Girls Inc. amongst others as well as founded a peer tutoring business, NextStep Student Tutors.

Additionally, she competes internationally for debate, and coaches her school’s team. She’s also worked at the University of Alberta as an AI researcher over summer!
