Sana Elache Legacy Community Engagement Award

Holly Hashimi

Meet the 2023 recipient of the Sana Elache Community Engagement Award!

Holly Hashimi has lived in Fort McMurray since 2010 and has found so many rewarding ways to help others in the community.

She has experienced joy volunteering in the community mentoring girls through Big Brothers Big Sisters’ Go Girls program as well as their one-on-one mentorship program; fundraising for Girls Inc.; volunteering with her dogs through Pets and Wellness Wood Buffalo and is a volunteer advocate with Victim Services. She also works part time for Talk Suicide, Canada’s suicide prevention hotline.

Lucky enough to have a supportive employer, Holly has been Registration and Recruitment Assistant with LINC at Keyano College since 2020 and has had the privilege of meeting the newcomers’ attending classes. Holly has found ways to assist students outside her role and to inspire and encourage them.

Holly has recently started an organization called HeartSpark, which offers free mental health, friendship and creativity programming for youth. She plans to use the funds received today toward her programming.
